"Wings & Prayers" was created in 2022-23 as an aspirational piece, designed to express the artist's desire for a spreading of the wings, for a newfound freedom from past conventions, and to signify the courage involved in taking risks. Sometimes you have to spread your wings and fly -- and know that you have the strength to carry yourself and to soar.

The bird featured in this piece is called a Bee Eater, and this bird carries wonderful spiritual significance, shared with the artist by a friend who received one of the 22" wingspan hoodies and 4" glazed tile reproductions of this piece as gifts.

"The bee-eater symbolizes transformation, inner purification, and divine wisdom, specifically in its ability to consume venomous bees. Often called the "Emerald Arrow" or associated with the celestial bow of Vishnu (Śārṅga), it represents the skill of transmuting life's "poison" into nourishment. The spiritual meaning of a bee-eater includes courage, tenacity, and joy, as well as transformation and the power of community. The bird is also interpreted as a divine agent, reflecting the wisdom and order of creation."
